How to measure ring size with string, paper & ruler

If you're shopping for someone else, the best way to find his or her ring size is to ask. If you're planning a surprise, get help from friends and family. They can ask without raising any eyebrows. The average ring size available for women ranges from size 44 to size 60. The most commonly purchased women's rings range between size 50 and size 54. Size 52 is the most popular. The average ring size available for men ranges from size 52 to size 70. The most commonly purchased men's rings range between size 57 to 63. Size 60 is the most popular. These standard ring sizes can help guide you in the right direction. If you do not see the size you need, contact our experts for help placing a special order. There are also a number of at-home methods to find your ring size

Measure your ring size with these steps:

  1. Wrap string or paper around the base of your finger.
  2. Mark the point where the ends meet with a pen.
  3. Measure the string or paper with a ruler (mm).
  4. Pick the closest measurement on the ring size chart to find your ring size.

More ring sizing tips:

  1. Measure the inside of another ring that fits using a tape measure and our printable ring sizer.
  2. The ring should fit your finger comfortably: snug enough so it won't fall off, but loose enough to slide over your knuckle with relative ease.
  3. When the knuckle is bigger than the base of the finger, measure both places and pick a size in between the two.
  4. Measure your ring size at the end of the day when your fingers are warm. Finger size changes depending on the time of day and the weather, and your fingers are actually smaller in the early morning and in cold weather. Also, keep in mind that fingers on your dominant hand are usually larger.
  5. Measure 3 to 4 times for more accuracy.

What happens when my ring is resized?

To make sure you get the best possible fit, the ring resizing process requires adding or removing small amounts of metal depending on the difference between the size purchased and the new size requested. As a result, your ring may be slightly thicker or thinner after resizing. These tiny changes are often visually imperceptible.

We adhere to strict quality standards so your resized ring both sparkles, and fits, beautifully. After the band is resized, each ring gets cleaned and polished before being handed to you.

What if I order the wrong ring size?

Don't let the question of size stress you out. Förevigt by Fernanda provides complimentary resizing for most engagement rings and wedding bands within the the recommended sizing range, during the first year of your purchase.

Rings that can't be resized

Some rings cannot be resized due to their design. In these cases, a note about that will appear on the product description.

For example, diamond and gemstone rings with a specific number of gemstones per finger size or ornate bands, silver rings cannot be resized since the heat can damage the gemstone.

Care Instructions

Historically has gold stood the test of time and has remained current. Gold is timeless due to its noble material, clean and is always trendy. Nothing shines as gold!

We wish we could just have a gold touch for life so we could just turn everything we wanted into gold! Wouldn't it be beautiful?!

However, as beautiful as your pieces may be, they need some upkeep and we are here to help you with that.

Gold has been used through many generations. Our ancestors used it and it is still actual in the world today, either in bars as for storing money or in the shape of beautiful jewelry combined with different gem stones to catch the eye and desire of anyone.

As a staple in your wardrobe, the gold pieces you own can be worn down. Make sure to take off your jewelry whenever you are doing chores around the house, especially when washing the dishes or washing your face. Although it won't impact the actual metal, it will reduce the shine, create scratches and so on.

We also recommend not to swim with your jewelry (this applies for all the noble metals and gemstones including diamonds) - eventually chlorine will ruin your pieces. But why?

Pure gold is not easily damaged by chlorine because it is a precious metal that does not react to other chemical substances. However, it is a very soft metal so in order to create gold jewellery, other precious metals are added to the gold to make it hard enough to keep its form and that is why we have the different karats in gold.

A gold karat is 1/24 part, or 4.1667 percent of the whole. The purity of a gold alloy is expressed as the number of these parts of gold it contains. For example, an object that contains 16 parts gold and 8 parts alloying metal is 16-karat gold, and pure gold is 24-karat gold.

Now that you know about this factor, we recommend you to kindly take care of your jewelry to keep it safe and shiny. You may forget to remove them sometimes while doing different kinds of activities and it's ok, you're still safe. But over time the damage can definitely be noticeable on your jewelry.

Avoid sleeping with your jewelry as it can block your blood from circulating properly and even create hematoms on your skin, specially if you're wearing big/thick pieces.

To clean your gold, you can start off by soaking it. Soak it from 1-3 hours in a bow of warm water with soap and you are ready to scrub it. You can either scrub it gently with your fingers, rubbing alcohol, or with a simple brush. To get a glossy finish, finish it off with a polishing cloth. Make sure to not over clean your pieces as they only need to be cleaned if they get dirty to the point of developing a patina.

The best place to store your gold pieces is either in a soft individual bags or a jewelry case that will keep all of the jewelry separated. If you store them individually, this will help reduce the amount of scratches that the jewelry endures over the years. Not only will storing them properly increase their longevity, you will also find them easily every morning!
